March 6, 1962, saw the annual freshman Glee Challenge and kicked off the most spirited tradition on the Willamette campus. After spending a night in exile, Freshman Class President, Ken Anderson issued the challenge in a patriotic nightshirt. The seniors stole the junior x27;s parody, and their cut-ups were great in an off colored way. Then came the week of no studies, while classes practiced diligently for their formations and songs. The long awaited climax, Glee Night, arrived all too soon with the presentation of each original Fight song and drill. For the winning class, there was the exuberant joy at the possession of the coveted Glee Banner, while the losers waded the old mill stream. Each quot;masterpiece quot; was presented Glee Night amid cheers, hopes, and plans of victory. The tired feet stepped high and the well practiced voices sang harmoniously to make the fifty- fourth Glee a complete success. Cleopatra meets Chubby Checker. Frosh Class Prexy arrives in style.
