Oct. 8/ 61     Camp Douglas Chicago    Dear Mother I now   am going to write  a few lines to you I have  just come from Kankakee I   went down Thursday and came  back Monday it was an accident  that I got off I told the Capt  that Hannah was sick and I   must go to see her she paid  my way and father paid it  the other I had a good time  I wrote that we was going  To St. Louis but we will   Not go far a little while yet  We cant tell when we go  Through Kankakee  When we go the people are all
