Fairchild Esq Dear Brother, I think of you and your work daily and Should be pleased to be there to relieve you, and would Speedily return and assist, but as you know I Came here to get My accounts fully Settled, and I am resolved to Stay until I get the accounts Settled, fully Settled up to the 30th day of Sept 1880. There is Nothing in them as a bar to the Settlement they need to be C ren ded through the different Offices to a Completion this I am doing amp; when I get through with one Office I go to the Next and if any Question arizes I am on hand to answer and give an Explanation I am receiving the kindest attention in all the offices of the Departments. A Bro Could not be treated with greater kindness than I recive from the Secty of the Interior. You will discover the Commissioner of Indian Affairs is not here Has not done but a few weeks work Since appointed He is Sick at home, and not able to do any thing but draw his pay at the end of the Quarters I have been kept busy when not employed with my own accts in Looking over Reports of Special Agents, and Council on Indian Matters generally My time is fully occupied and is passing away smoothly, only as I think of the press upon you amp; the ilness of Friend Miller I Sent a Telegram to Mr Miller to day The package of papers have just arrived.
