Pitsburg Landing Tennesee April 15th 1862  Dear Eliza  I Just now receivd your letter of the 8th and was very glad to here from you all and that you were well as this leaves me/ I  hope lizzy will soon get over the mumps and get well/ I was sorry  to here of My Mothers Death/ I should like to have seen her once more alive but she is better off where she is and I hope to meet her in that bright world above/ I sopose ??dam has his hands ful to pay his depts/ I should not like to be in  his plase/ I was very glad to here that charry had a calve so you can have some milk/ it will help  you along very much/ I am sorry that I can not send you some muny but we will not get any till next month sometime and then we will get pait for four month and I hope I shel come home by that time to see you/ if nt to stay but I hope the war will be brought to a close by that time/ I think we will move forward soon/ from what I can lern thair is an imence, army here now and I think we will not lay here much longer/ our Gennerals think 60 days more will wipe out the rebalion and then we can go home/ I hope it may be true/ 
        For I am geting tierd of this life/ but I sopose it is all for the best, I am very sorry to here that you have to scold the Boys so much and have truble with them/ I should think thay would tr to doo the best thay could to make you happy while I am gone/ if thay knew how much exposure I have to go thrue for to make them a once more happy country to live in/ you must tell them that thay must doo better and I will reward them when I get home/ thay could tend all the garden as well as not this summer and I hope thay will/ I receivd those letter stamps you send me/ as I have writen before you can find out all the perticulars by going to Mrs Pease as he writes all the perticulars about the battle we had here/ I know nothing more to write at pressent so I will  close with my love to you all and that God may keep you all in his care.
