It has been declared that great Exageration in the past has been made by the Agent in the amount of grain Received by the Indians. How have the Indians obtained their Subsistence? Not by Government Rations   Nothing has been Issued to able bodied men and women   Suppose there are only 1500 Indians to Subsist   and Suppose you Calculate each of the 1500 to have half one Ration of flour during the year what amount  of wheat is required to Supply?  Recuring  the  wheat to make 40 lbs to the Bushel it would  take 20,530 Take to Ration 500 Piutes  amp; Bannocks  Recuring  as above 40 lbs of Flour to the Bushel it would take 5,678 Bushels. Add to the above            20,530 You have 26,208 for Sustenance Say  Nothing of Waste   Nothing for Seed. Nothing for what  they Sell  amp; nothing for what they feed. Where do  they get their Flour but from their own production  
        The necessity of Keeping Keeping the Indians in the Reservation during the Wars with Chief Joseph and the Piute and Bannock Indians will appear if it is Remembered, that Indians that were returning from hunting with their venison and other game who were farmers upon the Reservation and known to me to be as reliable as any Indians on the Reservation, were Stoped in the Street of Yakama City and ordered to give up their guns with a Pistol pointed at them, Swearing that if they did not do it at  once, they would blow their brains out   that  an organization or Company of whites at Yakama City was formed to Come go upon the Agency and go from Camp to Camp, and from house to house and take away all guns from the Indians quiet peaceable Indians upon Said agency  amp; it was with the utmost exaction that I promted a Collision and a general war.
