Saint Louis Mo November 20th 1864 Dear Eliza This is the first chance I have to write to you since we com here I receivd your letters of the 9th and the 25th at St. Charles and the one that Brewer brought I think the picktures are very good I was very glad to get them I would like to have the boys if you can have them taken I would like very much to have com home with Col Pease but the Col can tell you all about it how it was that I could not com and be can tell you all about the trip we had beter then I can write you about it inside left I have had a very good time to what the most of the men had I have had a horse to ride nearly all the way and had blankeds enough to keep me warm I must say I have bin very fortunate ever since i have bin in the servise I shel be very thankful if I am always So luckey as what i have bin I sopose we will have to go down south again now we are geting redy for it i wish I could com and see you all before we go I hope this war will com soon to a close so I could com home again I am glad Lincoln is elected again and Morison is beat so he can stay at home and simpothise with his Copper heads frainds inside right I dont know nothing much to write that is new I will write in a short time again for we may get Paid off in a day or two if we doo I will sent you som muny the Boys all sent thair respects to you all and I would like to have a letter from Willy I hope this may find you all in good health as this leaves me, -may we all see each other I hope we may all see each other again before long your affectionate Husband J.
