Chicago June 1st 1868 Rev. N Rounds D.D. Dear Cousin, I have considered well the matter of our leaving New York for the Pacific Coast, and have come to the conclusion that it will be best for us, all things considered to leave by the first Boat in July. Our Conference is to be held at Salem on the 13th of August, and I deem it to be very important for us to be at the Conference. Bishop Scott will be our Bishop, and will accompany us if we go at that time. I am in duty bound to go up into the north of Michigan to see Adolphus, as prob-ably I shall never have another opportunity. I shall leave here on Friday next in the Steamer Allegany xxx for Grand Traverse and from thence next week I shall get down to Lansing and call again on brother James and Sister Melissa, and early in the following week I shall get down to Buffalo, and thence to your early next week place as soon as I possibly can. If you have any occasion to write to me send to Lansing Michigan, as I shall pass through there sometime during the week. Bishop Kingsley has written our transfer to Oregon, and put it into my hands, and I will bring it to you when I come. Your appointment will be published in the Christian Advocate of the present week. Our Conference here will close tomorrow. My respects to all Gustavus Hines
