The Class of 1996 All I Need The Class of 1995 Crossroads The Class of 1994 Do You Love Glee Willamette Faculty and Staff under the direction of Wallace Long Glee Slide Show Glee Committee Presentation of Glee Banner Jim Booth History Freshman Glee began in 1909 when the class of 1912 challenged the other classes in a song competition an event which became a tradition distinct to Willamette. In the past, Glee has been held in the Chapel of Waller Hall, the First Methodist Church, the Salem Armory, and the old Willamette Gymnasium (today x27;s Playhouse). Since 1975, Cone Fieldhouse has been used to accommodate the ever-popular Freshman Glee. Originally, Freshman Glee was a simple presentation of songs on a bare stage. Over the years, elaborate sets, marching and complex formations have also become essential parts of this special event. Freshman Glee is Willamette x27;s own tradition of the past, which will continue in the future Ode To Willamette the alma mater performed by Betty Starr Anderson There x27;s an old historic temple rising grandly through the years, Where the oaken hearted fathers drew their strength for strong careers. Down the years, its portals open, Gathered wise ones to its fold. Breathed the spirit of the Westland, Card x27;nal emblem x27;bossed with gold. Dear old School How strong we love thee x27;Round thy mem x27;ries, how we cling Glad some hearts beneath thy shadow, loyal hearts to thee we bring. Old Willamette, how we cherish all thy legends and thy lore, Born upon the calm Pacific, Guides us onward ever more. Spirit of the Golden Westland, breathing through the fathers x27; tears, Tells the story of the temple, bids us hope a x27; down the years, Sing, oh, sing of dear Willamette, Sing while hearts are young and true, Sea to sea the chorus swelling, Dear Old School of our W.U. Dedication We are proud to dedicate this year x27;s Freshman Glee to a person who has been responsible for introducing nearly three decades of students to the Willamette University community. Beginning in 1967 as Assistant Director of Admissions and continuing through his most recent tenure as Vice President for Student Affairs, Franklin D. Meyer has embodied the best traits of Willamette compasion, wisdom, leadership and good judgement- and has been a model for generations of Willamette students. He has represented the University with integrity in a 27-year career dedicated to making Willamette a better place for the students, his colleagues, and all persons who believe in the value of the small, liberal arts college. Frank Meyer has quot;class quot; and our class is honored to dedicate Freshman Glee to him as a small token of our appreciation. 1994 Freshman Glee Judges For Music, Lyrics, and Song Presentation: Marcia Hauff Mark Simmer Elizabeth Yates For Marching Formation: William E. ONE MOMENT IN TIME Music by Hong Thov amp; Todd Sexton Words by Hong Thov amp; Jeff Brislin The time is right, the time is now Come with us let us show you how. We came here from different places Different skills and different faces You can bet, we x27;re Freshman Glee We love this place we call Willamette-e. CHORUS One Moment, One Moment, One moment in time. Energy are flowing, smiles are shining faces will shine Standing together with no one behind. One moment in Time. CHORUS We must know this not only our moment in time. We must pave the way for those behind. Our actions today can change the face of planet earth. We must look beyond ourselves and see what life is worth. Through folly of knowledge so fell Rome. Nothing eternal except Styrofoam. CHORUS Each of us has but one life to live. One moment to share, one moment to give. The time we share, the people we meet Will make our life complete. Here we urge you through our time To make the most of life sublime. Freshman Class Managers: Tanya Dix, Chris Churchill, Valerie Garst, and Hong Thov A LIGHT Music by Patrick Bible amp; Branden Boyd Words by Branden Boyd Seems like yesterday When we were forced to turn away From security and family And face reality But we found a place A place where dreams have no end A place where we have found Our closest friends And though some have seen the light While others are still out in the dark We x27;ll always be together You know we got the same start And in our hearts we hold the key Yes we found the soil to plant the seed And how the knowledge it will grow All the things that we will know So many places to go.... So many faces to show what we x27;ve learned here And we x27;ve got so many opportunities And in the years to come we x27;ll find These truly were the best times CHORUS And in the sunshine and the rain We x27;ll remember yesterday We realized our hopes and dreams as the seasons changed And comforted each other x27;s pain And in our darkest hour Faith will show us through You see, we found a light When we found you Colour-splashed sunsets And dimly-cast sillouettes And a harvest moon so low It x27;s golden reflection on the water as it slowly flows And the brilliant sunlight Cuts through the morning like a knife Waking us To another day of life So many places to go... So many faces to show what we x27;ve learned here And we x27;ve got so many opportunities And as the years go by we x27;ll find These truly were the best of times CHORUS Repeat CHORUS with Descant Soprano Descant Dreams Follow your dreams Follow your dreams and we x27;ll never be apart This was our start These were our times and we x27;ll always hold them in our hearts Sophomore Class Managers: Luis Baez, Patrick Bible, Branden Boyd, Heather Hoell, Joy Hubbard, Brent Knoke, Kellie McClure, and Heidi Peterson. ALL I NEED Music by Dorcas Brown, Eric Wright, and Nick Anderson Words by Dorcas Brown, Eric Wright, and Nick Anderson He x27;s given us a moment in time, and now we x27;ve got our chanc e to use it. But we don x27;t have any reason or rhyme, and if we don x27;t shape up we might lose it. We x27;ve only got one life to live life to live. The trials of life may knock at your door your door So let us give all we can give all can give x27;cause love and peace are worth fighting for. CHORUS The road ahead is rough and steep. We must be strong but I feel so weak. Be strong...feel so weak I know alone / know alone I can x27;t succeed I can x27;t succeed Your loving hand is all I need. all I need so let us give all we can give give all can give x27;cause love and peace are worth fighting for. The road ahead is rough and steep. We must be strong, but I feel so weak. I know alone I can x27;t succeed. Your loving hand is all I need. bass AW I need, all I need, all I need, all I need... tenor Love and peace are all I need soprano Love and peace are all I need alto Love, peace, all I need The road ahead is rough and steep. We must be strong, but I feel so weak. I know alone I can x27;t succeed. Your loving hand is all I need. all I need Today my friend is what we have. The past isn x27;t here any longer. But we have learned from our mistakes, and it was oh so tough; but we x27;re stronger. We x27;ve only got one life to live life to live, life to live The trials of life may knock at your door your door Junior Class Managers: Heather Dahl, Eric Wright, JeffLippert, Kaley Scott, Jennifer Rosenberg, Brione Berneche, Liz Wilson, Laura Bunker CROSSROADS Music by Tin Hee Tan Words by Amy Rice amp; Cathy Williams The small town that she comes from sends her off and says good-bye Daddy hugs his baby girl, with teardrops in his eye. The world, it seems so scary, and she feels like she x27;s alone Will she ever find a vision or a dream to call her own? The bus travels quickly guided by the lights His thoughts are far away as he sees familiar sites. The hope that he still carries within his youthful heart Is one of new beginnings, looking for a brand new start. Here we stand together, each of us a tale Telling of our pathways, paving our own trails. Somehow, someway, we x27;ve reached this place and built these common ties To share with one another a chapter of our lives. Along the trail we x27;ve traveled we x27;ve seen storm clouds and the light We often wondered whether we would make it through the night. The ruts we carved we x27;ll leave behind to guide those passing through Although ahead the way seems hard, the sky x27;s forever blue. CHORUS And when this life brings its hopes And when this life brings its fears Look back and find those dreams we left behind Always remember the lessons learned From traveling here side by side. As we move on through challenges in life Let x27;s not forget this moment in time. The part that really matters on our graduation day Is what we carry with us and the things we gave away. A part of us we traded for the beauty of another And now instead of strangers, we x27;re a sister and a brother. Now we x27;re moving on again- our college days are through We x27;ve learned a lot and loved so much-we know not what we x27;ll do. Our future is unclear, but there x27;s a peace deep down we know Beneath the many fears still lies the strength by which we grow. CHORUS/BRIDGE Our travels started differently and Heaven knows the end. Our paths may never cross again But you x27;ll always have this moment in time.
