Sir I have the honor to acknowledge the Recpt of Goods amp; Supplies purchased for this agency by the Department in accordance with Estimates Submitted by me Feb. 16th with the Exceptions hereafter Noted. Invoices have been Recd for the following articles not yet heard from viz 6 Heating Stoves 30 Gal Kerosene 10 Do Brown japun 10 Do Copd varnish 50 lbs Burnt umber 10 lbs Creme yellow 12 Setts Wagon Fillers. 15 Setts Spokes amp; 8 Grind Stones. As the Season is so late and the Snow quite deep there is very little probability of these articles reaching this Agency before May or June next which is unfortunate, as Some of the articles, the Wagon Timber Especially is very much needed in the Shops My Estimate Called for the following articles for which I have recd no invoices and am therefore uncertain whether they have been purchased viz 400 yds Cashimere 1 Gross Shoe Laces 1 Gross Dress Buttons 500 lbs of Dried Apples 100 Gal Syrup 10 Boxes Glass 3 Inn Bunch Screws and 20 lbs Solder Services for goods Marked Malheur have been Recd which are yet behind as follows 100 yds Cheverit 6 Dutch ovens 2 Heating Stoves 60 Gal Kerosene. 5 Gal Lard and 5 Gal Turpentine and a Small package Containing 3 Doz tape Measures and 6 Doz Spoons. It is possible that this package May have been overlooked and a further Search may discover it. As I received no notice of the purchase of these goods other than the invoices and as Bills of Lading and Shiping Recepts have Not been Recd I am of course utterly without the Means of fixing Responsibility in case of loss, and Can only Conjecture when or by what menas the goods Still behind May be Shiiped. In this Connexion I respectfully desire to ask if I am to Recpt for these goods in any Manner exapt by Entering on abstract B. Such articles as have actually been Recd amp; if So if there is any particular form in which Such recpt Shall be made.
