Camp Sherman Sept 2st 1863     Dear Mother    I now seat myself   to write a few lines to  you to let you know how  I get a long I am not   well I am sick all the   time, Mother you can  have a chance to send  me a box of things if you  feel disposed to the Chaplin  of our Regt is again to  be at the central Depot  at La Salle on the 25 of  this month he is going   to have them sent through   free the same as --------  the Deer Park Boys have  all written home to thare  folks and some one
