Yakama Agency W.T. January 10th 1881 Rev. James H. Wilbur Washington, D.C. My Dear Brother, The Inspector Expects to leave here on thursday the 13th inst, (thank Providence) and I may Say Something of what My impressions are I think Every one about here will be ready to Swear, that the whole investigation (in their opinion) has been Conducted in A Spirit unfriendly to you. I will Say that I Should not be Surprized, if Some one, probably Huntingdon, Should be ordered to take Charge and Some of the Employees ordered to leave. On Saturday the Inspector told the Indians in Council, they need not pay for the goods th what was Charged to them on the Books Inspector told them (Indians) that they would get the Money for their labor hereafter. Inspector talks fairly Enough to Me in private, but in public, Seems to want to prejudice the Employees, and Especially the Indians against you. Signed J H Fairchild This is an Extract from a letter dated as above. James H Wilbur
