We the undersigned have carefully examined the original Indenture and do certify this to be a true copy Done at Umpqua Academy Jan. 19, 1856 George H. Brown CW Kakles FR Hill JW Miller written sideways Indenture between S. Coffin D.H. Linsdale amp; W.W. Chapman amp; J.H. Wilbur This Indenture made and entered into this 7th day of Sept A.D. 1850 between Stephen Coffin, Daniel H. Lonsdale and William W. Chapman Proprieters of the town of Portland on the first part and James H Wilbur trustee for the use and benefit of the Methodist Episcopal Church of Oregon of the Second part Witnesseth, that the party of the first part for the purpose of erecting an Academy thereon, and therewith and in consideration of the further Sum of one dollar to us in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, we do give, grant, bargain Sell and Confirm unto the Said J.H. Wilbur in trust to be by him Conveyed to Such persons or persons as Shall be appoin- tid to receive and hold the title for the use and benefit of the methodist episcopal Church in Oregon, all our right title and interest and Claim in and to the following described property Situated in the City of Portland Washington County Oregon to wit: Blocks Numbered on the plat of Said town two hundred and five (205) and two hundred and twenty four (224) and we further Covenant that if we Shall obtain title to Said property, from the United States, we will Convey the Same as aforesaid by Deed of general warrenty. We further Covenant to warrant and defend the said property against the Claim of all persons Claiming by through or under them.
