Washington D.C. Nov. 15th 1880. J.H. Fairchild Esq, Dear Brother, I found when I Came here the Explanations we had given were all in the Commissioners office unexamined. They Make Me think of the driving Saw logs down the Yakama River when they lodge on Every Sand bar and Must be pried off into the Channel before they will flote So here the papers get into the put away Corner amp; there remain until the party intrusted goes after them and drives them from one Office to another. I have got the whole of our papers up to the 1st of January 1879 approved in the Commissioners Office and to day go to the Indian Commissioners where they will probably be about 3 days and then go to the 2 Auditors where perhaps they May be a week and then to the 2nd Comptrollers for a finality. So you see doing the best I Can it will be likely to take me 3 weeks from the time I Came to get this grist through. I Sent a Telegram requesting you to Send the Cash account Corrected So the Accounts from Jan 1st 1879 to this time might be examined and peeped upon. I am resoved to Stay and make a Clean Sheet of my accts. I have been So busy with My own work that I have not got yours through but will give all the needed attention We have bound at a private house.
