Camp Bethel Tenn Oct 26th 1862 Dear Eliza I receivd your letter you send by Mr. Pease last friday and was very glad to heare from you, I am well at pressend and I hope this may find you the same/ we had quite a change of wether in the last two days/ it turned cold and yesterday it snowed for about three hours and to day it is purty cold and so we are sitting by our fireplases in our houses which we have build, I have build me a betsted wide anough for two to slep in so when you come to see me thair will be room for you, I have got a Job of carpenter worck to built a large house to put commissary stores in and we are building a hospital and Col Pease is going to have him a loghouse build I think we shel stay heare this winter from all appearance I hope we may for we shall be very comfortable the way we are fixt now I see Mr Bruer evry he is well I cant write you much news for thair is not much going on around here/ thair is some talk of our Rigemond being dismissd but I don t know how true it is/ thair is ten Regements to be musterd out that has bin cut up the most/ I hope the 49th may be one of them/ thair is new Rigements to be put in the old ones plases but this is only a rumar/ Tell Margrat to write me a gread big letter/ I want to see how she has improvd in writing in the writing school and I hope I shel heare good news from the children about thair behaveyer/ I hope thay will be good children and obedient so no more at pressent/ your affectionate Husband J.G.
