Item Title IX Compliance: In the Name of Financial Stability or Gender Equality?(2012) Anderson, Zachary W.(10 Willamette Sports L.J., no. 1, 2012, at 33). This article examines the phenomenon of universities dropping men’s athletic programs, purportedly because of a need to comply with Title IX. The author argues that many of these decisions to drop programs are for financial reasons. The article first discusses the history of Title IX and compliance with it. Next, it reviews the advantages and disadvantages of Title IX. Then, the article uses the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s decision to drop its men’s wrestling and football programs as a case study of compliance.
