Videography and editing credit to Jason Sobottka in 2001. The footage was shot at Deer Island Press in Deer Island Oregon on New Years Day. Proprietors Dee Vadnais and Paul Seamons are part of the conversation. Jason presented the video that year to the Southern Graphics Conference in Austin, TX. It documents the making of wood blocks for relief printing by a novel technique devised by Erik Sandgren. The designs to be printed are shown being transferred to woodblocks through the agency of 16 gauge shotgun using steel plates as stencils cut with acetylene and plasma torches. The audio track carries several discussions about that process in particular, its origins, and printmaking in general. It culminates with the inking and printing of a block thus produced.
