Abstract

my body is morning light is an installation and a written thesis. both say something about repetition; how repetitive acts can bring us into our bodies and how repetition as a creative practice can help us make sense of our own existence. the installation speaks in the material of naturally dyed textiles. it aims to connect viewers to an expression of repetition, to light, to breath, and to how sinking into the cycles of these knowledges can connect you to a sense that your existence is bigger than the body you inhabit. the written thesis speaks in the material of words. it offers a framework for repetition as a creative practice, how this practice functions, and how translating the practice into visual art captures an experience that moves through the body to become another version of itself.
