Abstract

The Beauty of the Mundane is a series of autobiographical still-life illustrative works by Claire Weitz. Fifteen paintings are used to depict three days of repeating actions, each respectively translated in three different mediums. Five mediums are used in total; oil paint, oil pastel, acrylic paint, gouache and watercolor. Arranged in a 3×5 grid, read left to right, are the following subjects: waking up, brushing my teeth, making food, doing the dishes, and the walk home.
