Izquierdo explored this subject for some thirty years, creating the last monumental version as a cast bronze installed outside the library at Pacific University in 1979. For Izquierdo, the theme of the shepherd held personal meaning: he titled one of these works Passage 1939, in reference to his shepherding of his younger brother and sister through war-torn Europe before they emigrated to the United States in 1942.Image14.25"" x 4.75""Painted terra cottaFor use information see: http://www.willamette.edu/arts/hfma/collections/copyright.htmlGoatherd
