She came to Oregon in 1937 to teach at the Federal Art Center in Salem. In 1943, she purchased acreage in the Eola Hills and lived on a small homestead there until her death. She taught art at Linfield College in McMinnville in 1946, returning in 1952 to head the Linfield art department until 1965.
