Theresa Secord (b. 1958)Secord, Theresa (b. 1958)2022-07-162022-07-162011.005https://hdl.handle.net/10177/19967Theresa Secord, a Penobscot weaver from Waterville, Maine, practices a style of split-ash and sweetgrass weaving drawn from the same northeastern tradition of fancy stitching that inspires Gail Tremblay in her work. Secord, the founding director of the Maine Indian Basketweavers Alliance (MIBA), has been instrumental in the renaissance of the state's Maliseet, Mi'kmaq, Passamaquoddy and Penobscot weaving traditions. She now mentors new weavers as she was once mentored by her elders.
