Michele Russo (1909-2004)2022-07-202022-07-20EVE94.1https://hdl.handle.net/10177/19490Red Nude #2 is brushier, more expressionistic, and less 'dapper' than Russo's late paintings of outlined silhouetted figures of nude females, dressed males, men's hats, and umbrellas. Of particular interest in Red Nude #2 is Russo's use of the paint stroke to enliven the entire surface of the painting: the red figure, the startling pink sky, and the blue sea highlighted by the strokes of yellow-green all are equally emphasized. These qualities help make the painting a classic modernist work.JP261.25" x 48.25"PaintingOil on burlapFor use information see: http://www.willamette.edu/arts/hfma/collections/copyright.htmlAbstract paintingsAbstract worksBreastsNudesOceansOil paintingsPaintingsSeasWomenRed Nude #2Image
