dc.descriptionDemetrios Jameson studied painting with Max Beckmann at Washington University, St. Louis, and began his teaching career at Oregon State University, Corvallis, in the 1940's. He was a significant figure in Oregon art for over fifty years. At the end of his life, he gave this watercolor and an oil painting to his longtime friend Mark Sponenburgh, with the understanding that the works be added to the Hogue-Sponenburgh Collection at Willamette.
