For our pertormance, we have interpreted home in an international sense. We thought it was especiaily fitting since the Willamette student body consists, not only ofAmericans, but also ofabroad students as well as TIUA students. Our main message is that Earth is home; a home to everyone. In the first verse, we create an image ofthe world's physique. H •••• sun rises over the mountains,;; ii....moon and starts shimmer in the night,H and ii ....oceans,jungles, forest, and deserts,H which are all encompassed in our worldy "home, glorious and bright. Ii In the second verse, we bring together ideas on the diversity ofpeople. ii ....difierent colors, races, languages, and beliefsii and H ....people of all kinds!! represent this thought, as we then go on to tell about nations coming together it..••to peacefully share this home. II The bridge ofthe song ties together the two verses with the chorus, and is used as a musical lift, to off-set our last singing ofthe chorus. The chorus, itself, intertwines the two verses. Hit doesn't matter who we areHrelates to the second verse, which states the diversity ofthe world. "It doesn't matter where we livelf relates to the first verse, which describes the physique ofthe earth. Finally, " .... sheltered under one bright skyl1 brings back the idea ofone international home. Our last line ofthe chorus, tlwe all have something to give,II reminds us ofthe fact that we are one world, and one home, and must work to together to make it a worthwhile place to live. Heart And Mind Lyrics by Jenna Fischer and Nicole Larzelier Music by Hong Thov Accompanist Scott Dilworth [VERSE 1] There is a place where the sun rises over the mountains Where the moon and stars shimmer in the night. There are oceans, jungles, forests, and deserts. A beautiful place we call our home, glorious and bright. [CHORUS] It doesn't matter who we are. It doesn't matter where we live. Sheltered under one bright sky, We all have something to give. [VERSE 2] With different colors, races, languages, and beliefs, Our world is represented by people of all kinds. Nations come together from near and far To peacefully share this home in the Heart and Mind. [repeat CHORUS] [BRIDGE] A place where the sun rises, Where the moon and stars shimmer A place where nations come together under one bright sky, To peacefully share this home in the Heart and Mind. Our song conveys this and the fact that Willamette is where we want to be. At this moment we cannot imagine ourselves anywhere else. Willamette has become our home, where we are happy and secure. When we did try to leave, such as returning to our hometowns, things were strange and no longer did we fit in. We have grown, and after spending nearly three years at Willamette, we have realized that this is where we belong. And, when the time comes to leave, it will be difficult. Although our paths will lead us in different directions, we share a common bond through our alma mater. Each of us has changed greatly while we've been here. We've grown up in many ways. The small community of Willamette has brought us together, and we have made many unexpected friendships. Knowing that we will leave in a few months "is both exciting and frightening. We are truly sad to have it come to an end, but we are looking forward to the future for which Willamette has prepared us. And with this song, we say goodbye. February 9, 1995 To all Senior Glee Managers and singers of our 1995 Glee song, This is what we wrote tonite. Kate is in the process of separating the parts -I have no clue what the technical definition is. Anyway, someone should be contacting you today (Friday) to set up a time to practice and learn the song on Sunday, Feb. 12. We record on Tuesday, Feb. 14. THIS IS IT -Glee is on its way!!! I (Kelly) took the liberty of creating a title because I forgot to ask the other managers about it before we all departed. A Time to Say Goodbye Verse Everyday you and I have grown close 1 Seeing faces many places, A home that we have shared. A part of my life now Unexpected friendships made; So many treasures It's hard to go away. Chorus Looking back on memories we've made So much I have to say. One last time please share with me now The tales we've made. Looking back on friendships we've found Now it's time to say goodbye; I wish you could stand by my side Now times have changed. Always, always be with me. Last verse of song: Always, always think ofme. (i:1stead of "be with me") Verse So much I've changed 2 YOI.J were with me all the way. Roads are changing, times remaining Strength has moved u~ alanC'. A part of my life now " Through the struggles overcome; Because you have helped me Every step of the way. Verse Moving onward destinies have yet to come 3 Looking forward, making choices This has become our home. Alma Mater, thank you for the times we've had As the time here passes, we know weill find a way.
