local.transcriptionIuk Oct 21st 1863 Dear Mother I now seat my self to write a few lines to you I am now at Iuka in a Hospital the Dr says i have the Intermiting fever I feel much better this morning the Regt what those is left of them have gone out about 20 miles from here there was only about 50 in the Regt that marched Cal Songster and Frank Bennett are in the Washington Hospital at Memphis they went about the 18th they were pretty sick our sanitary goods have not come yet I expect they are at Cairo yet they were thare the last time the Chaplain saw them I am afraid we will not get them still we may I got the things you sent by Goerge Hawk I will not write any more this time from John D Beach Co G 55 Regt Ill Direct to Memphis Tenn
