The piagui, or moth larvae collecting basket, is a light yet sturdy container for collecting larvae for roasting and eating. The stiff materials used in making the piagui protect the soft larvae from being crushed. The Paiute, like many peoples worldwide, relied on insects as an important and much-desired food source.
