Commentary from Carl Hall (4/26/94): He gave a talk about the painting at Salishan and criticized the developers for what they were doing to the beaches there. 'Salishan is against the laws of nature. I didn't know the owner had just spent $80,000 to keep his house from washing out to sea. This is a painting I love. It shows how the beach is invading the land , moving in.'
