dc.descriptionCharles Heaney was born in Wisconsin and moved to Portland with his mother and sister in 1913. A working class youth, he studied part-time at the Museum Art School with Harry Wentz. Heaney said late in life: ""I had a wonderful teacher in Mr. Wentz, to whom all credit should be given if I ever did amount to anything.""
