Abstract
Description
An ushabti is a small, mummy-shaped figure placed in tombs to do the work of the deceased in the afterlife. When translated, the name ushabti means to answer. A complete collection of ushabtis would consist of 401: one for each day of the year, plus 36 foremen to oversee the workers.
