Bill James and his mother Fran James are Lummi weavers from Bellingham, Washington, whose work and teaching has inspired countless younger people to take up the art of basketry. Working in the Coast Salish style, Bill and Fran James are known not only for their cedar bark baskets but also for traditionally woven woolen blankets and shawls.
