dc.descriptionDan May has lived all his life in Salem. He attended McNary High School and studied at Oregon College of Education (now Western Oregon University), where his instructors included Larry Stobie. His work is represented by the PDX Gallery in Portland and is in the collections of the Portland Art Museum and the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York. In a recent review in the magazine ARTFORUM, Stephanie Snyder wrote of ""May's passionate exploration of spatial forms, language, and storied materials such as weathered cardboard, old notebook paper, and other unidentifiable objects flattened and compressed by life on the streets.""
