Description
In life as well as in art, Manuel Izquierdo was infatuated with Venus, the goddess of love. He created a variety of Venuses (three versions are included in this exhibition)-as clay models, wood carvings, metal casts, and welded metal pieces. He identified his goddesses of love as specifically Iberian, in reference to the Spanish mainland of his birth and childhood.
