Description

Rajasthan (the "Abode of Princes"), a region in northwestern India, was central to the development of Rajput painting in the seventeenth to nineteenth centuries. The term "Rajput" ("sons of Raj") is used for both courtly and provincial developments within the Rajasthani tradition.
