dc.description | The Great Basin is the home of the Paiute, including the Northern Paiute of southeastern Oregon. The Native peoples of the region developed ingenious objects to aid them in this arid region, where their lives were shaped by a seasonal cycle of movement in search of small game, seeds, roots, and other foodstuffs. This miniature burden basket may have been a girl's toy basket, which she would use for gathering in imitation of her elders. | |
