Abstract
Description
From the necropolis at Thebes in Upper Egypt, this long, narrow, and pointed eye is most likely from an elaborate wooden funerary mask or statue. Eyes of glass, faience, and alabaster were frequently inlaid in anthropoid coffins, mummy masks, statues, and wall reliefs to give them a lifelike appearance.
