Manufactured in China for export to England, this bowl is thought to be from the service commissioned by Sir Edward Baughan Colt, Baronet, and his wife, Martha Gough, whom he married in 1804. The bowl is enameled in 'famille rose' colors over a green glazed porcelain surface. Seven scenes of elegant Chinese family life are depicted in scroll-framed panels on the exterior and interior of the bowl. Ladies, children, servants, and gentleman officials relax in architectural interiors and garden pavilions. The arms of Baronet Colt of Westminster are featured in the eight panel and on the bootm of the interior.
