Landscape with Cows
Abstract
Description
Victor Dupré studied with his older brother Jules Dupré, the well-known Barbizon School painter. Both are known for their romantic landscapes in which nature and human habitation are blended in a unified scene. In this way their work is similar in approach to that of John Constable in England. Although Victor’s work is generally eclipsed by his brother’s, he is a recognized painter in his own right, and his work is included in the collections of various European art museums including the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam.
