Abstract

Description

This canoe bailer was made in 2007 by Daniel Brainard, who was then chief of the Confederated Tribes of the Coos, Lower Umpqua, and Siuslaw Indians. Bailers have come back into functional use as western Oregon tribes embrace a renewal of the canoe traditions of their ancestors.
